Hello! My name is Whitney and I identify myself as a black woman with a multiracial background. As far back as I can remember, I have embraced cultural diversity. I have always been interested in culture and heritage, particularly in multiracial people’s experiences.
As a black woman, hair is particularly important to me and you could even say that I am more intrigued by hair than the average person. I’m also in an interracial relationship and I'm looking forward to having children one day. All of these factors played a significant role in the direction of this thesis project.
I hope to generate exciting and fun conversations between members of multicultural families. Also, I want to help these kids build confidence in expressing themselves and, of course, to help parents style their children's hair. Because, take it from this former kid with a 'fro, a good hair day means a lot more than you might think!
